**UPDATE**
Here’s an update on the Raw Denver situation. And I got to tell ya, If I was a fan in Denver and had tickets to Raw, I would be so pissed off!!!
Vince McMahon said the following in a press release: “WWE is extremely grateful to the Lakers and the Staples Center for the hospitality and professionalism shown to WWE during this whole situation. We apologize to all of the WWE fans in the Denver area who have been inconvenienced by Kroenke Sports Enterprises. We look forward to bringing two consecutive nights of WWE excitement to Staples Center this Monday and Tuesday night.”
Hi All!
Thumper here to let all you Wrestling fans get the inside trakc on what’s been happening with next Monday’ PPV Raw event, that was scheduled to take place in Denver’s Pepsi Center. Here’s, in a BIG nutshell, what’s goign on.
when their team would not have been in the playoffs. Vince suggests that the fans of the Nuggets had more faith in the team than their management. Vince says that it is not good business to not support your own team. It is also not good business to throw the WWE out on its ear when there were no tentative dates or provisions in the contract that they signed.
Coach asks if Vince will be in Denver on Monday. Vince says that the WWE trucks are on the way to Denver and it looks like there are going to be two events in the Pepsi Center.
Vince says that the person at fault is Stan Kroenke. Vince says that it is unfair for the way that he treated the Nuggets fans and the WWE. He says that it is not fair to book the WWE event at the same time as the NBA playoffs.
Vince holds up a Lakers shirt and says that he wants to personally give it to Mr. Kroenke.
Coachman asks Vince if they will go to the NBA to resolve this problem. Vince says that NBA put it back in the Nuggets’ court because the Nuggets never presented it to the NBA as a booked date for scheduling purposes.
Vince McMahon came off well while it seemed at times that Vince was cutting a promo with the number of times that he mentioned Stan Kroenke’s name. It looks like it could be a very eventful Memorial Day in Denver.
WWE has to put on a RAW show every Monday to fulfill their agreement with the USA Network and noted that when you have a date, you plan everything around it and went on to say they may be holding an event in a parking lot somewhere.
While nothing is being said publicly regarding a change yet, as of last night no travel plans within the company were changed even though everyone is readily aware they they aren’t going to be able to run at the Pepsi Center.
So what will happen to next week’s RAW? Two different ideas include the less likely one of taping RAW on Saturday night at the WWE live event in Salt Lake City or the more likely idea of taping RAW in Colorado Springs on Monday, the same place they’re taping SmackDown and ECW on Tuesday. Taping in Salt Lake City guarantees a larger crowd because if they went with Colorado Springs, they couldn’t put tickets on sale until today or Wednesday. There is still the major headache of having to switch all the tickets out and offer refunds but it’s possible a good percentage of those who purchased tickets for the original show in Denver would be willing to travel to Colorado Springs because it is about 70 miles away.
